因?yàn)橹挥挟?dāng)你事先構(gòu)思好而不是邊想邊寫,你才能真正做到論證內(nèi)容的一致性,觀點(diǎn)與論據(jù)的統(tǒng)一性,也才能真正取得高分。另外,用最直白的作答應(yīng)對題目的提問,用單邊的手段安排整篇文章成5段的總分總思路是十分適用的。
160. Relate to…感同161. 身受
Relate指“與….系”,不過是指怎樣的關(guān)系呢?字在對話中的用法是relate to….指的“感同身受的體會”。說法常常可以聽到。
A:I’m afraid to flying. 我害怕坐飛機(jī)。
B:I can relate to that. I have nightmares about plane crashes.
我能體會。我作噩夢會夢到墜機(jī)。
Relate to 也可以用來表達(dá)“溝通上有共識”。若是“代溝”(generation gap),或是觀念不同而溝通上的,你就可以用上下面的這句話。
A:I have trouble relating to Carol. 我跟卡羅溝通很難。
B:Maybe it’s because she’s 30 years older than you.
或許這是她比你年長三十歲。
162. On a moment’s notice 臨時通知
Notice是“通知,注意”的意思,on a moment’s notice指“到了最后一刻,才臨時來的通知”。通常醫(yī)生是最容易被臨時通知出診的行業(yè)了。
A:He’s a great doctor. He’s always there on a moment’s notice.
另外一個為美國人所尊崇的美德為堅忍。記得再龜兔賽跑這則伊索寓言嗎?兔子以為可以贏的很輕松,便睡了個午覺,但是烏龜再最后終因不放棄而贏了這場比賽。另一個故事談到一個必須爬過陡峭山頭的小火車,山頭是這么陡,以至于小火車很難爬上去,但是它仍不斷地爬,并不停地說:「我想我能做到,我能做到!棺詈螅疖嚱K于爬過了山頭,「我就知道我可以!惯@個快樂的小火車?yán)^續(xù)往前去。
